MOONCOR OIL & GAS HAS DISCOVERED THE SOUTHEAST EXTENSION OF THE HORN RIVER BASIN DUVERNAY/MUSKWA SHALE SYSTEM
(More Info)

Mooncor’s Muskwa/Duvernay Play Heating up

The Duvernay is a Devonian shale that is equivalent to the Muskwa. When you extend the Muskwa around the south lobe of the Peace River Arch, the naming convention changes. The Duvernay is the Muskwa equivalent. It has roughly the same thickness as the Muskwa Mooncor has on its Hamburg lands. The organic rich Duvernay is at the base of the Ireton which is equivalent to the Fort Simpson shale overlying Mooncor’s Muskwa zone.

This bodes well for Mooncor's Muskwa/Duvernay/Horn River Muskwa shale gas play. Mooncor eagerly anticipates the next land sale in the general area to see if this upward price trend continues.

Mooncor’s land position in the area is north of the Peace River Arch. The recent land rush was south of the Peace River Arch, where land went for over $300/HA. Mooncor paid on average $28/HA for land in this play. Encana announced a new Alberta Duvernay/Horn River type shale gas play in Alberta and industry speculation is that the Duvernay buyer in the December 16, 2009 land sale may have been Encana.

About Mooncor Oil & Gas

Mooncor Oil & Gas Corp. is a junior oil and gas exploration and production company with unconventional shale gas, light oil, and heavy oil projects in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Southwestern Ontario. Mooncor’s key shale gas play is located on the Alberta/British Columbia border in the Hamburg area. The Company has acquired 103,680 acres (162 sections) of land with a 100% Working Interest in this shale gas play and is pursuing a South East extension of the Devonian shale system from the Horn River Basin.

The Company has three other key shale gas plays. Two are in Southwestern Ontario targeting the Kettle Point Formation (Antrim style shale gas zones) and the Collingwood/Blue Mountain Formation ( Utica shale gas zones). There are plans to drill the first well of a potential 5 well program through the Kettle Point Formation to test an identified Silurian Pinnacle Reef in Lambton County.

Mooncor also has interests in 7,200 net acres of a Colorado shale gas and heavy oil prospect at White Hill Lakes, Saskatchewan.

The Company has other ongoing conventional and heavy oil projects in Alberta (Woodbend, Lloydminster, Lonestar, and Bashaw).
